Isothermal two-phase flows with and without phase transition

Abstract
Two phase flows, where both phases are well separated, are often described by models of Baer-Nunziato type. This is in some ways easier than to deal with sharp interface models, where the phase boundary has to be resolved sufficiently good, in particular in the case that phase transitions are taken into account.
When dealing with Baer-Nunziato type models for pure phases for numerical reasons it is necessary to allow the presence of a small volume of the absent phase, i.e., small values for the volume fractions are used, typically $10^{-8}$. It is assumed that this is a good approximation.
In this talk we compare the isothermal two-phase Baer-Nunziato model to the isothermal Euler model with and without phase transition.
